Lexus NX

2022 Lexus NX: Lexus’ second-best-selling model next to the RX, the compact NX gets a freshening for 2022. Still a 5-passenger, crossover 4-door wagon offering front- or all-wheel drive, the NX gets more power, more features and fresh styling inside and out. While the outgoing model had been available with gas and gas/electric hybrid powertrains, the 2022 gets a new plug-in option as well. Competitors include the Acura RDX, Audi Q5, BMW X3, Cadillac XT4, Infiniti QX50, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Jaguar E-Pace, and Volvo XC40.

The model lineup includes NX250, NX 350, NX 350h and NX450h. NX 250 returns with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 203 horsepower. NX350 gets a new turbocharged 2.4-liter 4-cylinder that makes 275 horsepower. Both gas engines mate to an 8-speed automatic. Hybrid models include the NX350h and NX450h plug-in. Both get a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine/electric motor combo. NX350h has 239 horsepower and NX450h has 302 horsepower. Lexus claims when fully charged the NX450h has an all-electric driving range of 35 miles.

Inside the 2022 NX gets a new infotainment system with either 9.8- or 14.0-inch touchscreens. An F Sport package adds appearance tweaks including dark trim and black 20-inch wheels and adaptive dampers. Options include a panoramic sunroof, heated rear seats and upgraded driver-assistance features including a system that prevents you from opening the door from inside the car if it senses that a bicyclist or another vehicle is approaching. Prices have yet to be announced. The 2022 Lexus NX will arrive in dealerships this fall.
