2021 Subaru Legacy: Legacy is a midsize, 5-passenger 4-door sedan that comes standard with all-wheel drive. It was all-new for 2020, so it sees little change in 2021. Competitors include the Chevrolet Malibu, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Kia K5, Mazda 6, Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry and Volkswagen Passat.
There are six different trims: Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, Limited XT, and Touring XT. Engine offerings include a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that makes 182 horsepower and a turbocharged 2.4-liter 4-cylinder that makes 260 horsepower. Both pair with continuously variable automatic transmissions (CVT). Subaru's engines are unique in the industry in that they are offered in horizontally opposed configuration, with Porsche the only other automaker that sells vehicles with this unique "boxer" engine.
Available driver-assist technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights. Pricing ranges from $24,000 to $38,000.
