Kia Niro

2021 Kia Niro: The Kia Niro sees an exterior design refresh in 2020, in addition to new safety and entertainment tech. The Niro is a compact hybrid car that seats 5 passengers and is only available as a 4-door hatchback. Niro is offered only as a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. With the arrival of the new EV6, the fully electric variant of the Niro is discontinued. After a significant refresh in 2020, changes for 2021 are minimal. Competitors include the Honda HR-V, Toyota RAV4, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Rogue Sport.

Despite its crossover nature, Niro is only offered with front-wheel-drive. There are five different trims available: LX, LXS, Touring, Touring SE and EX Premium. Powertrain options include a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder aided by an electric motor that produces 139 horsepower and a plug-in hybrid variant that adds an 8.9 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery and offers up to 26 miles of all-electric driving range.

Available driver-assist technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights. Pricing ranges from $25,000 to $38,000.
