2021 BMW X3: The X3 is a five-seat compact crossover. Sole body style is a 4-door wagon and it is offered with both gas and gas/electric powertrains. Competitors include the Acura RDX, Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Audi Q5, Infiniti QX50, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, Lexus NX, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class and Porsche Macan. The X3 was most recently redesigned in 2018 and gets some minor tweaks to the equipment list and the infotainment system adds support for Android Auto.

The X3 model lineup comprises the 30i, M40i, 30e, X3 M and X3 M Competition. Rear- and all-wheel-drive versions are available, with all wheel drive models being designated xDrive. The 30i gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 248 horsepower. M40i gets a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine that makes 382 horsepower. X3 M and X3 M Competition get versions of that engine that make 473 and 503 horsepower, respectively. The plug-in 30e hybrid is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and electric motor. When the battery is fully charged, BMW says all-electric range is 17 miles. All engines mate to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Standard on all models is an infotainment system with a 10.25-inch screen and support for Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Available driver-assist technology includes rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights. Pricing ranges from $48,000 to $76,000.
