2019 GMC Terrain: The GMC Terrain gets new safety tech standard and the addition of an Elevation Edition package in 2020. The Terrain is a compact crossover that seats 5 passengers and is only available as a 4-door wagon. Competitors include the Chevrolet Equinox, Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Cherokee, Nissan Rogue and Toyota RAV4.

Front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel drive being optional. Four trims are offered: SL, SLE, SLT, and Denali. Two engines are available: A 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that produces 170 horsepower and a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 252 horsepower. Both engines pair to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacity is rated at 3,500 pounds.

Available driver-assist technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights. Pricing ranges from $26,000 to $40,000.
