2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE: Electric Elegance That Doesn't Compromise.

by: Mark Bilek

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE continues its mission to redefine midsize luxury sedans in the electric era. Introduced in 2023 as the electric counterpart to the E-Class, the EQE enters 2025 with updated battery chemistry, improved regenerative braking, and new comfort features like soft-close doors and headrest pillows. Offered exclusively as a five-passenger sedan, the EQE competes in the premium EV segment alongside the Audi e-tron GT, BMW i5, Lucid Air, and Porsche Taycan. Its sleek "one-bow" silhouette and aerodynamic design reflect Mercedes' commitment to futuristic styling and efficiency, while its cabin blends traditional luxury with cutting-edge tech.

The EQE lineup includes four models: EQE 350+, EQE 350 4MATIC, EQE 500 4MATIC, and AMG EQE. The EQE 350+ features a single rear-mounted motor producing 288 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 96.0-kWh battery offering an EPA-estimated 308 miles of range. The EQE 350 4MATIC adds a front motor for AWD, maintaining the same horsepower but boosting torque to 564 lb-ft, with range dropping to 267 miles. The EQE 500 4MATIC ups the ante with 402 hp and 633 lb-ft, while the AMG EQE delivers a blistering 617 hp (677 hp in boost mode) and 738 lb-ft of torque, though range dips to 220 miles. All models use a single-speed direct-drive transmission and support 170-kW DC fast charging. Towing is not recommended for the sedan.

Pricing starts at $74,900 for the EQE 350+ and climbs to $106,900 for the AMG EQE. Standard features include a 12.8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a Burmester 15-speaker sound system, panoramic sunroof, and synthetic leather upholstery. Optional packages add massaging seats, the MBUX Hyperscreen, and augmented reality navigation. Safety tech includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and a surround-view camera. The Exclusive and Pinnacle trims layer in additional driver-assist features and luxury upgrades.

2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE

Acceleration is brisk across the lineup. The EQE 350+ hits 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds, while the EQE 350 4MATIC shaves that to 6.0 seconds. The EQE 500 4MATIC drops it further to 4.5 seconds, and the AMG EQE rockets to 60 in just 3.2 seconds. Passing power is smooth and immediate thanks to the instant torque delivery of its electric motors. The single-speed transmission ensures seamless acceleration without gear shifts, contributing to the EQE's refined driving character.

As an EV, the EQE uses electricity rather than fuel. The EQE 350+ earns an EPA rating of 94 MPGe combined, while the EQE 350 4MATIC and EQE 500 4MATIC score 86 and 85 MPGe respectively. Real-world efficiency varies by driving style, but most owners report 2.5-2.6 miles per kWh. With a 96-kWh battery, highway range can exceed 280 miles in optimal conditions. Charging from 10-80% takes about 32 minutes on a DC fast charger.

Mercedes' 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system is available on the EQE 350 and standard on the EQE 500 and AMG EQE. It dynamically distributes torque between axles for optimal grip and efficiency. Drive modes include Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Individual, allowing drivers to tailor throttle response, steering weight, and suspension settings. The AMG model adds Race and Slippery modes. There is no X-Pro trim or off-road package for the sedan variant.

Ride quality is a standout, especially with the optional AIRMATIC air suspension on higher trims. The EQE glides over imperfections with minimal harshness, offering a plush, composed experience. Lower trims with standard suspension are slightly firmer but still comfortable. The AMG EQE firms things up for sportier handling, though it remains compliant enough for daily driving.

The EQE's steering is light but accurate, with good feedback in Sport mode. Rear-axle steering (up to 10 degrees) enhances maneuverability and stability, especially in the EQE 500 and AMG trims. Body roll is well-controlled, and the chassis feels balanced. Braking performance is strong, though earlier models had inconsistent pedal feel - now improved for 2025 with recalibrated software.

2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE

Cabin noise is impressively low, thanks to laminated glass, tight panel gaps, and the absence of engine noise. Compared to rivals like the BMW i5 and Tesla Model S, the EQE is quieter at highway speeds. Optional acoustic glass and the Comfort Package further reduce wind and road noise, making it one of the most serene EVs in its class.

The EQE's cabin is a masterclass in modern luxury. Jet turbine-style vents, woodgrain dash inlays, and ambient lighting create a rich atmosphere. Materials include synthetic MB-Tex or optional Nappa leather, with suede-like accents and brushed aluminum trim. The layout is clean and futuristic, especially with the optional Hyperscreen spanning the dashboard.

Tech is abundant: MBUX infotainment with voice control, fingerprint recognition, wireless charging, and OTA updates are standard. Safety features include forward collision warning, lane centering, blind-spot intervention, and adaptive cruise control. The Pinnacle trim adds a head-up display, active emergency stop assist, and evasive steering assist. While all of the technology features can induce a bit of overload, most basic functions are easily accessed. However, there's a steep learning curve and occasionally, common features like the massaging seats and audio source are buried under multiple menu functions.

The EQE seats five in two rows. Front seats offer 8-way power adjustment, heating, ventilation, and optional massage. Rear seats are spacious with 38.2 inches of legroom and 38 inches of headroom. Entry and exit are easy thanks to wide door openings and a low step-in height.

Trunk capacity is 10.9 cubic feet - modest for the segment. Rear seats fold 40/20/40 for longer items, but there's no frunk due to the HEPA filtration system. Interior storage includes a large center console, door bins, and cupholders. USB-C ports are plentiful, and AC power is available via optional packages.

2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE

Bottom Line - The 2025 EQE blends Mercedes-Benz luxury with electric innovation. It excels in comfort, tech, and refinement, though cargo space and pricing may deter some buyers. Compared to the BMW i5 and Lucid Air, it offers a more traditional luxury experience with superior ride quality and quieter operation. The EQE 500 4MATIC Pinnacle strikes the best balance of performance and features. Though, if you want most of the features at a lower price point and are satisfied with rear-wheel drive, the 350+ is the best value.
