2017 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER EVOQUE CONVERTIBLE: Bound to attract large crowds to the Land Rover exhibit during the 2016 Chicago Auto Show is the 2017 Range Rover Evoque convertible. This is the first ever convertible sport utility vehicle to join the Range Rover family line-up, and it's available in two luxurious editions, the SE Dynamic, and HSE Dynamic. Performance fans will appreciate the 240-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard four-wheel drive. While retaining the elegant design proportions of the five-door and coupe derivatives with its acoustically-lined fabric roof open or closed, the Evoque Convertible has been substantially re-engineered to accommodate the stowed roof mechanism. The upper portions of the rear fenders have been carefully redesigned while an all-new tailgate and spoiler have been engineered; the rear spoiler houses the LED stoplight and optimizes aerodynamics. Advantages of the fabric roof design compared with folding hardtop include reduced weight, improved center of gravity and the ability to raise or lower the roof at higher speeds. Once the roof is lowered, hinged panels located at the rear of the interior fold flush to conceal the mechanism, ensuring for a clean and uncluttered appearance. A deployable roll-over protection system is hidden in the rear quarter panel automatically deploys two aluminum bars in 90 milliseconds in the unlikely event of a roll-over situation. Land Rover's InControl Touch Pro features a 10.2-inch capacitive touch-screen with a 21:9 super-wide format and 1280x542 pixel resolutions. Solid state disk technology provides significantly faster response times than SD-card or HDD-based systems. The seating for four passengers maintain their outstanding comfort and support while introducing a sportier, more technical aesthetic and the fixed twin rear seats includes a central bolster and revised quarter trim speakers. The 8.9-cu. ft. luggage capacity of the Range Rover Evoque Convertible is retained, whether the roof is open or closed.
