BUICK AVISTA CONCEPT: Buick's younger designers and engineers have succeeded in capturing the dynamic balance of natural forms with the cutting edge technologies to define the Avista concept car. Scheduled to be on display in the Buick exhibit during the 2016 Chicago Auto Show, the Avista is a contemporary grand tourer, backed by a twin-turbocharged V-6 that pumps out a respectable 400-horsepower to drive the rear wheels. The prototype 3.0-liter engine features fuel-saving cylinder deactivation, stop/start technology, and mated with a new electronic precision shift eight-speed automatic gearbox. With its visual elegance and sweeping proportion, the Avista is a true two-door hardtop with unobstructed views for the 2+2 passengers. The interior combines a Superior Blue foundation color that echoes the Dark Sapphire Jewel exterior and is highlighted with Mist Gray for the leather seating, inserts, and console. Cutting edge 3-D printed door and seat trim compliments the exposed carbon fiber and aluminum accents. The touchscreen controls are part on a widescreen instrument panel display. Drivers will appreciate Buick's magnetic ride technology that delivers more precise body motion control, and all the passengers will welcome the advanced noise cancelation technology, ionic air purifiers, and aromatherapy. Exterior design cues include the wing-shaped lighting with illuminated "halos' around lamps' edges for a 3-D effect. Note Buick's new winged tri-shield insignia against the dimensional mesh grille. Those 20-inch aluminum wheels have color-keyed accents, and in homage to Buick heritage, the front fender vents with chrome accents evolve Buick's signature fender ports.
