VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE GRC: Volkswagen partners with Andretti Autosport to form the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team, fielding two race prepared Beetles in the Red Bull Global Rallycross series. On display at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show is the Rockstar Energy Drink Beetle GRC, driven by Tanner Foust. The Beetle GRC is an all-wheel-drive vehicle which features 550-horsepower from its 1.6-liter turbocharged and direct-injection TSI engine. Rallycross is the fastest growing form of motorsports in the U.S., attracting big crowds at venues across the country, as well as live TV coverage. Cars are pitted against each other and the clock in a series of heats on a closed course that are usually a mixture of dirt and pavement, with a 70-foot jump. The action is fast, it’s intense, and is hugely appealing to a crossover audience of auto and live action sports fans. The Red Bull Global Rallycross series open in May and run through November, 2015. Check your local listings for times the races will be broadcasted on NBC and NBC Sports stations. Tanner Foust is GRC champion in 2010, 2011, 2012, and runner-up in 2013. In 2014, he was voted GRC Fan Favorite.
